ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed support for a change in the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), stating that the current administration has failed to deliver.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Fazlur Rehman said there is growing consensus among political parties regarding the need to replace the KP government. He criticized the provincial leadership for what he described as poor governance, deteriorating law and order, and economic mismanagement.
“The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is alarming. People are suffering, and the government is doing nothing,” he said. “If a constitutional and democratic way is found to bring about change, we will support it.”
His remarks come amid increasing political maneuvering in the province, where opposition parties are reportedly in discussions over forming a new coalition.
Fazlur Rehman also took aim at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing it of creating instability in the region and undermining democratic institutions. He reiterated the importance of restoring public confidence through responsible and transparent governance.
The JUI-F leader’s statements have added to speculation about a possible shift in the provincial power structure, though no official move has yet been made.
