KARACHI – A mix-up at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport led to a passenger missing his flight due to confusion over a similar name, airport sources confirmed on Friday.
The incident involved two passengers with nearly identical names who were scheduled to travel on different flights. Airport staff mistakenly allowed the wrong individual to board, leaving the rightful passenger behind.
According to officials, both passengers were traveling on valid tickets but the similarity in their names caused confusion during the boarding process. By the time the error was discovered, the flight had already departed.
The affected passenger lodged a complaint with the airline, demanding an explanation and compensation for the inconvenience caused. Airport authorities have launched an internal inquiry to identify the staff responsible for the error and to prevent such incidents in the future.
Civil Aviation officials acknowledged the issue and emphasized the need for stricter identity verification procedures to ensure such mistakes do not recur.
The airline has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
