ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced plans to transform the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide federal force, to be renamed the Federal Constabulary. This restructuring aims to strengthen internal security and law enforcement across Pakistan.
Under the new plan, the Federal Constabulary will operate throughout all four provinces as well as Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The force will be led by officers from the Police Service of Pakistan, aligning it more closely with other federal law enforcement agencies.
To facilitate this change, the government will amend the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915. Following approval by the federal cabinet, a presidential ordinance will extend the force’s jurisdiction nationwide. Recruitment will be opened across the country, and new offices will be established accordingly.
This move is part of a broader strategy to centralize and enhance national internal security efforts, enabling more coordinated and effective law enforcement across various regions of the country.
