ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to establish a dedicated helpline to support and guide tax filers, as part of the government’s efforts to improve taxpayer facilitation and boost revenue collection.

During a high-level meeting on tax reforms held in Islamabad, the premier emphasized the urgent need to simplify tax procedures and provide assistance to citizens who wish to fulfill their tax obligations. He instructed the FBR to ensure that the helpline offers round-the-clock support and resolves taxpayer concerns efficiently.

The Prime Minister also called for the development of a user-friendly digital platform, enabling individuals to file taxes easily and access information regarding their tax status, liabilities, and returns. He highlighted that the success of Pakistan’s economic roadmap depends largely on increasing the number of active taxpayers and restoring public trust in the system.

In addition, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to structural tax reforms, urging authorities to eliminate loopholes and take decisive action against tax evaders. He directed relevant departments to coordinate closely and submit a comprehensive implementation report within a week.

The FBR is expected to roll out the helpline service in the coming days, with additional steps planned to enhance taxpayer education and outreach across the country.
