Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited (HACPL) has achieved a major milestone by exporting its first batch of 38 locally assembled Honda City 1.2L vehicles to Japan. This marks the company’s initial shipment of completely built units (CBUs) to an international market, highlighting Pakistan’s entry into the global automotive export arena.

The export ceremony was attended by key government officials and industry stakeholders, reflecting the significance of this development for the country’s industrial growth and export potential.

Despite this achievement, industry experts warn that Pakistan’s automotive sector still faces challenges, including high production costs and the need for clearer, export-friendly government policies. Countries like Thailand and Indonesia remain strong competitors due to more supportive environments for automotive exports.

Experts suggest policy reforms such as automated rebate systems and duty-free import of components in exchange for exports to enhance competitiveness and encourage further investment in export-oriented production.

While the initial export volume is modest, it lays the foundation for future growth. Sustained success will depend on continued government support and improvements in the business climate for the automotive industry.
