MASTUNG — A senior police officer was martyred and three others injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on a police vehicle in Mastung district on Friday.
The incident occurred on the National Highway as the police convoy was traveling from Kalat to Quetta. Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Razzaq and Constable Raza Muhammad Jam were killed in the attack, while Constables Taj Muhammad and Khursheed Ahmed sustained injuries.
Following the ambush, emergency responders shifted the injured officers to Quetta for treatment. Security forces immediately launched a search operation in the surrounding area to trace the attackers.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind strongly condemned the attack and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from the province. Authorities have tightened security along major transit routes and investigations are underway to identify those responsible.
