LAHORE — Heavy monsoon rains have resulted in three additional deaths in Punjab, raising the province’s death toll to at least 63 within a 24-hour period.
Two of the latest casualties occurred in Lahore due to electrocution, while one person drowned in Rawalpindi after being caught in floodwaters. The ongoing downpours have caused widespread flooding, leading to roof collapses and homes being submerged.
Rescue teams are actively engaged in evacuating residents from flooded areas using boats and other means. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued warnings about continued heavy rains and the risk of further flash floods in the coming days.
Authorities have urged people to remain vigilant, follow safety instructions, and avoid unnecessary travel to reduce risks during the intense monsoon season.
