NAWABSHAH – Six members of the same family were shot dead in a targeted ambush near Qainchi Pull Gujarwah on Thursday while they were on their way to a local court to attend a hearing related to an old murder case.
The victims, who belonged to the Bhungwar community, were riding motorcycles when armed assailants opened fire on them. All six died on the spot. They were identified as Shehbaz, Taj, Habdar, and Rajab Ali—sons of Ghulam Mustafa Bhungwar—and Qurban Ali and Farman Ali—sons of Shah Ali Bhungwar. All were residents of Goth Ishaq Bhungwar.
According to police, the attack is believed to be the result of a long-standing tribal feud that began with a murder case in 2010. The victims were scheduled to appear in court regarding that case on the day of the incident.
Authorities have arrested seven suspects, including the alleged mastermind, Ismail Bhungwar. In a swift and stern response, law enforcement also demolished the homes of the accused individuals as part of punitive measures.
The bodies were shifted to Peoples Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations before being handed over to the grieving families. The funeral prayers were held in the victims’ native village and were attended by a large number of mourners, including political figures and senior police officials.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report. He condemned the attack and assured the families that justice will be served.
The incident has reignited concerns over tribal violence and the need for stronger protective measures for individuals involved in long-standing legal disputes.
