ISLAMABAD — The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned the conditions under which party founder Imran Khan is being held, claiming he is detained in a “death cell” and subjected to psychological torture.

According to PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, Imran Khan is confined for 22 hours a day without access to newspapers, television, books, or regular legal counsel. He added that Khan’s court-ordered right to meet with six designated individuals has been systematically violated, with both his wife Bushra Bibi and sister Aleema Khan being denied visitation.

PTI also accused the authorities of using solitary confinement and restricted communication as tools of intimidation, calling it a blatant violation of human rights and judicial orders.

The party further alleged that other PTI leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Pervez Elahi, are facing similar treatment—being held despite receiving bail, denied proper healthcare, and isolated from family and legal teams.

PTI warned that if the judiciary remains silent on these violations, it would amount to complicity in undermining constitutional rights. The party called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure implementation of court rulings.

The statement marks another escalation in the party’s growing campaign to draw attention to what it sees as targeted political repression and judicial non-compliance.
