LOS ANGELES — July 20, 2025: A car drove into a crowd outside a nightclub in Hollywood early Saturday, injuring more than 25 people, including the driver who was pulled from the vehicle and beaten, authorities reported.
The incident occurred near The Vermont Hollywood nightclub, which was hosting a reggae and hip-hop event. The driver’s motives remain unclear as investigations continue. Police are also searching for a gunman who reportedly shot the driver during the chaotic aftermath.
More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene in East Hollywood. Emergency crews transported 23 injured individuals to hospitals; seven were reported in critical condition, six in serious condition, and ten in fair condition. Seven others received treatment at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed the driver suffered a gunshot wound and was hospitalized. The suspected gunman fled on foot.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, many clubgoers were waiting outside in line near a taco truck and valet stand when the vehicle suddenly struck the crowd, damaging both the truck and valet podium.
