VEHARI — July 20, 2025: Two suspects wanted in multiple serious criminal cases were killed in separate police encounters during routine patrols by the Crime Control Division (CCD) in Vehari district, officials confirmed on Friday.

The first encounter took place near the EB-505 bridge when a CCD patrol team was fired upon by three armed men. Police returned fire, critically injuring one suspect identified as Muhammad Yousaf, also known as Kaba Qasai, a resident of Burewala. He later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities recovered a 30-bore pistol from the scene, while two accomplices escaped.

In a separate incident near Chak WB-97, a CCD team came under fire from three armed suspects blocking the road. During the retaliatory action, one suspect, identified as Akhtar Hussain of Burewala, was critically wounded and died during the operation. Police recovered a pistol from his possession.

Officials stated that both deceased were involved in numerous cases of robbery, theft, and armed assault and had been evading arrest for nearly 20 years.

Over the past 90 days, CCD teams operating across Multan, Lodhran, Khanewal, and Vehari have arrested 337 suspects linked to various serious crimes. These include 49 arrests in murder cases, 34 in robbery, 180 in robbery and theft, and 74 in other offenses.
