ISLAMABAD — July 20, 2025: Karachi Company police have arrested a suspect in a rape case, five days after he allegedly fled the scene following the alleged sexual assault of a woman.
The case was registered on July 13, but despite the victim’s identification of the accused, police initially failed to apprehend him. The arrest came only after the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) intervened due to the delay.
Sources revealed that police had also failed to arrest the same suspect in a previous high-profile case involving the murder of a young student from the International Islamic University Islamabad. The student was shot inside her university hostel, and despite a timely video recording identifying the accused, police inaction delayed any response for several months.
The arrest followed a protest by the Aurat Foundation outside the National Press Club, demanding action against police negligence. Law enforcement authorities confirmed the suspect’s arrest on the same day.
Officials said the alleged killer is a professional thief with prior arrests for motorcycle theft and other criminal activities.
