ISLAMABAD – Security forces killed four terrorists linked to a banned separatist group during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Kalat district on the night between Saturday and Sunday, officials said.
According to a statement issued by security officials, the operation was conducted in the Pahrod area following intelligence reports about the presence of militants. Troops surrounded the hideout and engaged in a fierce exchange of fire, resulting in the deaths of all four suspects.
A cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the site. A clearance and sanitization operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
The operation comes in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, including a deadly ambush on a Karachi-bound passenger bus in Kalat that left at least three dead and seven injured. Earlier, on July 11, nine passengers were abducted and executed by militants in Loralai district after being removed from public transport vehicles.
Leaders Hail Operation Success
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the security forces for the successful mission.
In a statement, President Zardari reaffirmed the state’s resolve to eliminate terrorism at all costs. “With the support of the nation, the state will continue to act with full force. The terrorists of Fitna-tul-Hindustan will be pursued until their complete elimination,” he said, referring to banned separatist groups accused of having ties to India.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the entire nation stands united with the security forces. “The government remains firm in its efforts to eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country,” he stated.
Chief Minister Bugti lauded the troops’ professionalism and rapid response, calling the Pahrod operation a strong message to hostile elements. “Our security forces have once again proven their preparedness and resolve to defend the province,” he said.
Describing the separatist group as a threat to national stability, Bugti emphasized that operations against anti-state elements will continue. “Any attempt to disturb Balochistan’s peace will be crushed,” he declared.
He concluded by paying tribute to the personnel involved, stating: “Their bravery and commitment have once again thwarted the enemy’s malicious plans and reaffirmed our unwavering dedication to national security.”
