Lahore — Severe rainfall has hit Lahore, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people and injuries to six others. The city experienced intense downpours, with some areas receiving exceptionally heavy rain within 24 hours. This led to widespread flooding, causing damage to homes, vehicles, and roads.

Many fatalities were due to rain-related incidents such as roof collapses and electrocutions. The drainage system in Lahore struggled to handle the volume of water, leading to significant waterlogging in low-lying areas and major streets, disrupting daily life and traffic.

Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid vulnerable areas while rescue teams continue their efforts to assist those affected and clear flooded zones. Plans have also been announced to upgrade the city’s drainage infrastructure to better cope with future heavy rains.

Meteorologists warn that similar weather conditions may persist, and residents are advised to remain cautious and take safety precautions amid the ongoing monsoon season.
