A mehndi ceremony hosted by a TikTok creator in Sialkot turned deadly on Saturday night, October 31, when a crowd surge at the venue gates left two people dead and 18 injured, according to a Sunday police update.

The event, held by Muhammad Ansar Jatt — known on TikTok as Mr Patlu, where he has more than 814,000 followers — was a mehndi celebration combined with a prize-distribution ceremony at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road. It was scheduled for Saturday night after Isha prayers. Police say the organisers had promoted a lucky draw on social media, offering cars, motorcycles and other prizes, and a large crowd gathered outside the ground.

The stampede broke out as the gates opened. Police say an announcement over the loudspeaker directed participants to enter the ground at the same time, and people rushing in fell on one another. Rescue 1122 teams shifted the injured to Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital in Sialkot. The first person confirmed dead was 30-year-old Muhammad Aqeel, who died while being taken to hospital. Police said on Sunday that a second injured person had since died at a government hospital, taking the toll to two, and that all 18 injured people had been treated and discharged.

Sialkot police have registered a case at Motra Police Station (FIR No. 1335/26) against nine named individuals — including the organiser, his brother Kashif, the ground owner and other co-organisers — along with 40 to 45 unidentified security guards, and have arrested six people involved in managing the event. Police also took into custody 50 motorcycles and a car that had been intended for the lucky draw. The TikToker himself remains at large, a police officer told Arab News. Police say the organisers violated safety procedures and the conditions of their permission: the no-objection certificate issued for the gathering covered a private mehfil-i-samaa in an enclosed space, not a public prize-draw event. Traffic on the main Daska–Sialkot Road was disrupted and damage to public property was reported.
