The PTI has rejected claims that Imran Khan welcomed the end of his party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling the reports “fabricated” and insisting the former prime minister never made such remarks.
The denial follows Tuesday’s meeting between Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi with their lawyer Salman Safdar at Adiala Jail — their first in months — after which some commentators suggested the PTI founder had endorsed the idea of the KP government stepping aside.
“At no point did Imran Khan welcome or endorse the end of the KP government,” the party said in a statement, accusing “certain quarters” of twisting the meeting’s outcome to fuel a media trial.
The KP government, led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, has been under pressure since the party’s internal rifts deepened, but PTI leaders maintain the provincial setup retains the founder’s confidence.
Analysts say the episode underscores the information vacuum around the incarcerated leader, where every jail meeting spawns competing narratives within hours.
