Petrol prices in Pakistan have been cut for the second time in two days, with the new ex-depot price of petrol falling to Rs369.06 per litre from Wednesday after a reduction of Rs5.45.

High-speed diesel is down Rs5.31 to Rs389.89 per litre, kerosene oil drops Rs5.64 to Rs200.90, and light diesel oil is cheaper by Rs5.50 at Rs169.98, according to the Finance Division notification.

The back-to-back cuts follow Tuesday’s fortnightly revision, which had already brought petrol down Rs9.13 to Rs374.51. Officials attribute the relief to softer international oil prices, with Brent crude easing to US$85.25 a barrel and Pakistan State Oil’s import premium narrowing.

“This is the first time in months that consumers are seeing consecutive reductions,” a Finance Division official said. Transporters welcomed the move but urged the government to ensure the cut reaches passengers, not just fuel stations.

The new prices take effect from midnight tonight and will remain in force for the next fortnight, barring any extraordinary review.
